Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2025
Scope of Services
Modern Serenity provides outpatient psychotherapy and psychological consultation services. Our services are not a substitute for emergency or crisis care. If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. You may also contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
Professional Relationship
The therapeutic relationship begins only after a formal intake process and mutual agreement between client and practitioner. Submitting a consultation request through this website does not establish a therapist-client relationship. Information shared via the website inquiry form is treated as confidential but is not considered part of a clinical record until a formal therapeutic relationship is established.
Appointment & Cancellation Policy
We respect both your time and ours. The following policies apply to all scheduled sessions:
- A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling.
- Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) and missed appointments (“no-shows”) are subject to a fee equal to the full session rate.
- Exceptions may be made for genuine emergencies at the practitioner's discretion.
Fees & Payment
Session fees are discussed during the initial discovery conversation and are based on the type and duration of service. Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made. We do not accept insurance directly; however, superbills can be provided for clients who wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance carrier.
Confidentiality
All communications between client and practitioner are confidential and protected by law, including HIPAA and California Evidence Code Section 1014. Exceptions to confidentiality are limited to those required or permitted by law, including situations involving imminent risk of harm, suspected child or elder abuse, or court orders. These exceptions will be discussed in detail during your intake session.
Limitation of Liability
Therapy involves exploring personal challenges and may at times feel uncomfortable. While we strive to provide the highest quality of care, Modern Serenity and its practitioners cannot guarantee specific outcomes from therapy. Our services are provided on an “as-is” basis, and we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the therapeutic relationship or use of this website.
Telehealth Services
We offer telehealth sessions via HIPAA-compliant video platforms. By participating in telehealth sessions, you acknowledge the inherent limitations of remote therapy, including potential technology failures and reduced ability to observe non-verbal cues. Telehealth services are available only to clients located in California at the time of the session, in accordance with state licensing requirements.
Website Disclaimer
The content on this website is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute medical or psychological advice. No therapist-client relationship is formed through use of this website. Always seek the advice of a qualified mental health professional with any questions regarding a psychological condition.
Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes arising from these terms or the therapeutic relationship shall be resolved in the courts of Los Angeles County, California.
